University of Liverpool to celebrate the success of 22 alumni at the 2020 Alumni Awards

Published on

In June 2021, the University of Liverpool will celebrate the successes and achievements of 22 of our esteemed alumni.

This year's virtual ceremony will be hosted by Vice-Chancellor Professor Dame Janet Beer on Saturday 19 June 2021. Award winners from the UK, China, Hong Kong and Nigeria will all be joining the Vice-Chancellor to celebrate their successes.

The inaugural 2019 Alumni Awards were one of the last events to be held on campus in 2020. Whilst the 2020 awards will this time be a virtual celebration, we hope that our 2020 winners will be able to join us on campus at our next Alumni Awards ceremony.

This year's award winners work in areas such as the arts, business, communications, health, law and the charitable sector. They are making valuable and impactful input in their respective fields of work. For the first time, we are also recognising those who make a real difference to their communities and our own alumni community through their volunteering.

Our 22 winners were selected by a panel made up of members of the Alumni Team, academic staff, the Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Education, the Deputy President of the Guild of Students and a 2019 Alumni Award Winner.

The recipients of the 2020 University of Liverpool Alumni Awards are: David Barlow MBE, Sarah Hammond, Bill Heckle, Jean Quinn, David Williams, Oliver Press, Layla Wright, Sheng YingBridget Griffin and Paul Hayward. Honorary Alumni Award: Joan Kenworthy. Alumni Volunteer Winners: Nicola Beesley, Holly Fitzgerald, Zoe Moore-Martin, Alice Stevens, Caroline Wong, Jane Wong, Joy Duncan, Okeoghene Ekere, Uruemu Esiri OghenQueen Elizabeth Okwum and Lola Olaide-Stephen.
