Dental Alumni Association

The Liverpool Dental Alumni Association is believed to be the oldest dental alumni association in the country.

Originally established as the Past Dental Students' Association in 1922 by Professor W H Gilmour, the third Dean of the Dental School and the first professor of Dentistry in the UK.

Today, the Liverpool Dental Alumni Association welcomes 1800 members, who keep in touch with their alma mater through an annual newsletter and reunion dinner. There is also an annual Dental Staff/Student/Alumni Golf Competition usually played at Royal Birkdale. Our series of meetings and lectures contribute towards CPD and we have previously held joint symposia with the University of Liverpool Vets Alumni Association on subjects of mutual interest.

The LDAA has a close relationship with the School of Dentistry, supporting its activities particularly in the form of financial support through its investment portfolios. This very tangible level of support is used to contribute to the School’s research activities, and also to provide undergraduate prizes each year.

As of 2024, all graduates from the School of Dentistry automatically become members of the LDAA upon graduating. If you graduated before 2024 and would like to join the LDAA, please join here. The LDAA also welcomes past and present School of Dentistry staff and non-School of Dentistry graduates as associate members, please join here.
