Show kindness this Random Acts of Kindness Day

Posted on: 16 February 2024 in 2024

Taking place on 17 February, Random Acts of Kindness is an annual worldwide initiative encouraging people to spread more kindness and positivity.

As we approach Random Acts of Kindness Day, our priority is to show kindness to our most vulnerable students. With more and more students facing increased financial pressures, the demand for additional support is on the rise.

With the cost-of-living crisis many students are left uncertain about their future and your kindness can make a difference. By contributing to the Student Fund, you are helping provide support to exceptional students through scholarships, bursaries and emergency grants. Your generosity will extend an opportunity to allow students fleeing conflicts in other parts of the world and those who cannot access education to have the opportunity to excel in their studies.

The Student Fund is designed to ensure that students of every background can come to Liverpool and make the most of their time here, making their experience more accessible by easing their financial burden - so they can go out into the world and make a difference. This includes students from low-income backgrounds, asylum seekers, care-leavers, mature students trying to support a family, or those estranged from their families.

In the face of growing challenges, your help can provide a safety net to those experiencing difficulties.

How your kindness will support students:

  • Emergency grants: Demand for hardship funding has tripled.
  • Scholarships and bursaries so that students don't miss out on a university education.
  • Support for health and wellbeing: Your donations can fund programmes and services that focus on students' physical and mental health such as counselling services, financial workshops and mentoring

This Random Acts of Kindness Day no gesture is too small. How you can help:

  • Make a gift of any size in support of the Student Fund today (Tax-efficient giving can make your generosity go even further, please take a look at our information on overseas donations here.) Please consider making a regular gift to help provide long-term support and opportunities to all students
  • This Random Acts of Kindness day, you can also share your time, expertise and insights with our students by volunteering. Alumni volunteering is a great way to stay connected with the University community and positively shapes the student experience and future employability. Whether it’s becoming a mentor on LivUni Mentors, speaking at an event, supporting recruitment activities or writing an alumni profile, your time makes all the difference in inspiring the next generation. Nearly 2,000 alumni volunteered their time, expertise and insights last year.

Thank you for your kindness and for playing a key role in making big changes possible!
