What have the key learnings been in your first 3 months in post?
These first few months as the first ever Project Manager at The Beatles Story have been a real eye-opener. I’ve learned that blending the charm of our historical exhibits with modern project management is all about striking the right balance. Whether I’m coordinating the detailed recreations of places like The Cavern Club or ensuring that every piece of memorabilia—like John Lennon’s original piano—is perfectly displayed, I’ve discovered that clear communication and a genuine passion for the story behind the artifacts make all the difference.
Can you tell us about a project that you are currently working on or something that you are finding particularly rewarding?
I’m really excited about a project I’m leading that brings interactive digital elements into our exhibition. By teaming up with tech experts, historians, and creative designers, we’re transforming key moments of The Beatles’ journey into immersive experiences. It’s incredibly rewarding to see our ideas come to life—from recreating the buzz of The Casbah Club to enhancing the narrative with modern audio guides—and to know that we’re creating something memorable for every visitor. Our plan focuses on expanding the linguistic diversity of our audio guides to enhance accessibility. At The Beatles Story, we’re equally committed to sustainability, and we're excited to be working towards achieving a Silver accreditation for our Green Tourism Project—a milestone that highlights our dedication to environmental responsibility.
What does a typical day look like for you?
My day usually starts with a quick catch-up with my team to set our priorities, and then I’m off to visit the exhibition spaces to check on everything from the placement of original memorabilia to the setup of our digital displays. I spend a lot of time in meetings—chatting with curators, designers, and tech experts—while also carving out moments to brainstorm and problem-solve. Every day is a mix of planning, hands-on work, and a bit of creative magic, which keeps things fresh and exciting.
Many of our international students hope to secure a job in the UK after graduation. What advice can you share about securing a role in the UK?
For anyone aiming to kickstart their career in the UK, my advice is to be proactive and get your hands on with local experience. I found that taking on internships, volunteering, or even part-time gigs helped me understand the work culture here and build valuable connections. Tailoring your CV to reflect your enthusiasm and dedication to your field really goes a long way—it certainly opened doors for me and paved the way for my role as the first ever Project Manager at The Beatles Story. Never stop believing in yourself. It might take some time to reach your goals, but trust that everything will eventually fall into place.
For all The Beatles fans in our alumni community – what is the best fact you have learnt about this iconic band?
One unique fact I love sharing is how The Beatles not only revolutionized music with their innovative sound but also reshaped cultural style. Their iconic “mop-top” hairstyles and bold, mod-inspired outfits weren’t just fashion choices—they were a deliberate statement that challenged the norms of the 1960s. This fearless blend of music and style set a new standard for personal branding and creativity, influencing not only the music industry but also inspiring generations to embrace individuality.
And your favourite Beatles song?
I’ve always been drawn to “Here Comes the Sun” for its uplifting vibe and timeless message.
One unexpected learning or moment I've experienced:
During one busy day, I paused to watch a family completely absorbed in our immersive exhibit. Their genuine connection reminded me that every detail we craft creates meaningful memories. This simple yet powerful moment reinforced the value of thoughtful design and the impact our work has on people. It’s a lesson I carry with me every day the Project Manager here.
How I envision the future of heritage exhibitions:
I see heritage exhibitions evolving into dynamic, interactive experiences that blend history with technology. At The Beatles Story, I’m excited to integrate innovations like augmented reality, which will bring the past to life in fresh, engaging ways. We’re also committed to sustainable practices, such as energy-efficient installations and eco-friendly materials. Together, these changes will help us honor the legacy while protecting our future.
