September 2026
21-22 September: Outcomes and Reflective Practice
This two-day workshop covers topics relating to the Foundations of Advanced Veterinary Practice module or ‘A-module’ – the first module in the CertAVP program. The topics are highly applicable to everyday practice, and the workshop is open to all, not just those enrolled on the modules.
The stifle is a common site of lameness localisation but due to complex anatomy and resulting imaging limitations, it can pose a diagnostic challenge. Lectures through the morning will cover the array of techniques we utilise to completely assess stifle pathology and how they complement each other. The afternoon will involve interactive sessions on ultrasound, diagnostic anaesthesia and case-based discussion.
October 2026
1 October: “A Gut Feeling” with Rachel Burrow
This course is designed for vets who manage a small animal surgical caseload and would like to broaden their skill set and improve outcomes for cases requiring:
- Gastrotomy, enterotomy and enterectomy
- GDV and gastropexy
- Oesophagostomy tube placement
2 October: Total Ear Canal Ablation and Salivary Gland Surgery
Cases of canine end-stage ear, aural tumours, and salivary mucocele are seen regularly in first opinion practice. This course will enable you to start providing in-house surgical management of such cases via our practical surgical teaching principles: maximum cutting time using canine cadavers, expert tuition, and high affordability.
13-15 October: Medical, Orthopaedic & Basic Orthopaedic Ultrasound
Join the Leahurst Equine Hospital teams for up to 3 days of equine ultrasonography and orthopaedics. Designed to enable you to practice your own diagnostic ultrasound and orthopaedic therapeutic skills under the close guidance of recognised specialists, this workshop will increase your confidence investigating distal limb lameness and using the scanner for a wide range of common medical and orthopaedic clinical cases.
Note: each day can be booked separately or as a comprehensive 3-day course
November 2026
2 November: Updates in Small Animal Emergency and Critical Care Mini Module
This 100% online CPD mini module has been developed and aimed towards the more experienced veterinary surgeon. The module will provide you with 25 hours of designation specific CPD over 4 weeks.
Week 1: Updates in endocrine emergencies with Ludivine Boiron
Week 2: Rabbit emergencies: fundamentals and updates with Jack McHale
Week 3: Updates on managing the septic patient with Sinziana Radulescu
Week 4: Gastrointestinal emergencies with James McMurrough
4 November: Equine Foal Skills for Clinicians
This practical one-day workshop will cover essential foal skills for clinicians working in ambulatory practice. The morning starts with lectures, and the rest of the day is a mix of hands-on small group practical skills sessions and case-based discussions.
