Discover campus with our visiting USA counsellors

The University of Liverpool hosted an annual USA counsellor ‘fly-in’ in May. Nine counsellors from seven states travelled to Liverpool to get a taste of what it’s like to be a student at the University, experience the city and of course meet with current students from the USA on campus to hear about their time in Liverpool so far.
Student panel
Students Jasmine Sirabella (BVSc Veterinary Science) and Dani Irwig (BSc Bioveterinary Science) began the day by sharing their experience of their first year in Liverpool, from why the chose the University and the support in getting settled, to the academic difference compared to the USA and their highlights of the city.
Student accomodation

The counsellors toured some of our on-campus accommodation at Crown Place, guaranteed for all first-year students, getting a look at the day-to-day life a student could have on campus.

The counsellors had a tour of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, seeing not only the projects and facilities that current students have access to and are a part of, but also the quality and personal connection they have with the academic staff – even post-graduation!
Careers & Employability

Counsellors were given an overview of central careers services and departmental support that students can receive throughout their studies, including international students from the USA. Our current Career Coaches were able to chat with counsellors and demonstrate their day to day expertise for current students.
School of Veterinary Science

Our AVMA Accredited School of Veterinary Science showcased some of our main campus facilities and offered a clinical skills workshop to counsellors, including an attempt to practice live birthing a lamb!
Free time

Counsellors were given an opportunity to explore the city of Liverpool before departing for their next destination, taking in to account recommendations from colleagues and student ambassadors. Of course top of the list was a walk round the iconic Royal Albert Dock.
