Posted on: 4 November 2026 by Brogan Charlton in Where are they now?

From exploring media and PR as an undergraduate to specialising in marketing at postgraduate level, alumna Brogan Charlton has spent the past few years developing her knowledge and skills across the media and marketing landscape.

After graduating with a BA in Communication and Media in 2025, Brogan continued her studies at Liverpool, completing an MSc in Marketing in 2026. As she prepares to graduate again in December, we caught up with Brogan to reflect on her university experience, what inspired her postgraduate studies and her ambitions for a career in PR and marketing.

How did you find your undergraduate experience at the University of Liverpool?

“I found my time at the University of Liverpool really rewarding. The city was a big part of what attracted me to Liverpool, and there is always so much to see and do. My undergraduate degree gave me a strong foundation in media and communications, allowing me to explore different areas of the industry, from PR and digital media to popular culture.”

What inspired you to continue your studies with an MSc in Marketing?

“I wanted to build on what I had learned during my undergraduate degree and expand my knowledge of PR and marketing. The MSc gave me the opportunity to explore the field in greater depth and develop a better understanding of marketing.”

What was a highlight of your postgraduate degree?

“I particularly enjoyed exploring relationship marketing and heritage brands. My consultancy report focused on how UK heritage retailers, including John Lewis and Marks and Spencer, can strengthen customer loyalty while maintaining their brand identity. It was a great opportunity to explore a subject I am genuinely interested in and apply my learning to real-world business challenges.”

What skills have you developed during your time at university?

“Both degrees have helped me develop so many skills. My postgraduate studies also strengthened my understanding of marketing strategy and customer relationships, giving me a broader perspective as I prepare for the next stage of my career.”

What are your plans for the future?

“I am keen to pursue opportunities in PR and marketing, where I can put my knowledge and skills into practice. I would love to work with brands and build on my interest in marketing, particularly relationship marketing and customer engagement, while continuing to learn and develop professionally.”

What advice would you give to students thinking about their next steps?

“Make the most of the opportunities available to you at university and explore the areas that genuinely interest you. Continuing my studies allowed me to build on my undergraduate knowledge and discover new areas of marketing that I would love to explore further in my career.”

As Brogan prepares to celebrate another milestone at the University of Liverpool in December 2026, she is looking forward to taking the next step in her professional journey and putting her knowledge into practice in the PR and marketing sector.
