New Director of Development and Alumni Relations joins the team
We are delighted to welcome Dominic (Dom) Boyd as the University’s new Director of Development and Alumni Relations.
Joining us in September 2026, Dom brings almost three decades of experience in higher education to the role, alongside a wealth of leadership experience in development, philanthropy and alumni engagement.
Dom has joined the institution from Manchester Metropolitan University, where he was the Director of Development and Alumni Relations for seven years, leading the growth of the institutions’ fundraising and engagement programmes.
Now a member of the External Relations leadership team, Dom takes over from Suzie Thompson and will play a key role in building on the strong foundations established across our alumni and supporter community.
Speaking about Dom’s appointment, Group Director of External Relations David Winstanley, said: “We are delighted to welcome Dom to the University. He brings a wealth of leadership experience along with huge amounts of fundraising and alumni relations expertise to the role, and we are excited to see the impact he will have on our community.”
Commenting on his new role, Dom said: “I’m thrilled to join such a fantastic university which has an incredible and well-established Development and Alumni Relations team. I’ve only been in post for a week but can already see that our alumni and supporters’ network is thriving and that there is great momentum behind our work.
“I’m excited about what we can achieve together and feel privileged to be part of such a generous and dedicated community.”
Also starting a new role in the team is Michaela Riches who will be supporting Dom in the position of Deputy Director of Development and Alumni Relations.
Dom joined the University in his new role on Tuesday 15 September 2026.
