From Liverpool to Launch: Alexander Cavadias returns to inspire the next generation
The University of Liverpool Management School was delighted to recently welcome back alumnus Alexander Cavadias, Co-Founder and CEO of TheCart, who returned to campus to share his journey from student to startup founder with current students.
A graduate of the University of Liverpool Management School, Alexander Cavadias studied Business Management with a Year in Industry, building the foundations for a career that spans product management, e-commerce and social media marketing. Since graduating, he has developed extensive experience working with brands and digital platforms, alongside progressing through roles at Spin.
During his time back on campus, Alex delivered a guest lecture as part of the Marketing Strategy module as well as a workshop at the Sir Peter Rigby Centre for Enterprise. Speaking to students, he brought theory to life by demonstrating how core marketing principles translate into real-world strategy within fast-moving digital environments.
Shashwati Bhosale, MSc Advanced Marketing student, reflected on the impact of the session: “Alex came back to campus for a drop-in session to share his journey from student to co-founder - how he built TheCart, the challenges along the way, and his vision for where it's going next. As someone also on a startup journey, sitting in that room and hearing him speak was genuinely motivating.”

At the heart of his talk was his entrepreneurial venture, TheCart. Launched after several years of development, TheCart is a personalised shopping app designed to transform how users discover and purchase products online. The platform enables users to save items from across the internet into one central space, while its AI-driven technology curates personalised recommendations, offers tailored discounts, and champions UK independent and SME brands.
Alex shared insights into the journey of building the app, from identifying consumer pain points to launching a minimum viable product and scaling user engagement. His reflections on pitching, product development and navigating early-stage investment offered invaluable guidance to students considering careers in entrepreneurship and digital innovation.
Sumit Malik, Assistant Professor at the University of Liverpool Management School, said: “Alex’s focus on personalisation, clear value proposition and user experience in building his AI-driven personalised shopping app for TheCart App was illuminating, especially in the fast-moving digital environment. It’s always great to bring founder journeys into the classroom.”

In addition to delivering the lecture, Alex has also generously supported the student experience through mentoring and ongoing engagement with the Management School. His willingness to give back reflects a strong commitment to supporting the next generation of graduates as they transition from university into their professional careers.
We extend our sincere thanks to Alex for volunteering his time, sharing his experiences and continuing to inspire our student community.
