Students explore Marketing Agency life at Iris

Published on

Students from the University of Liverpool recently visited the headquarters of Iris Worldwide in London for an immersive day of learning, insight and networking.

Co-Founder and Liverpool alum Ian Millner opened the day with a warm welcome and introduction. This was followed by a series of engaging talks from multiple departments, including Strategy, Social, Creative, Production, New Business and Talent & People.

These sessions offered students a comprehensive look at life within a marketing agency, providing valuable insight into the practicalities of working across different roles and how departments collaborate to deliver impactful campaigns.

An interactive networking session rounded off the day, giving students the opportunity to connect with Iris staff and begin building relationships to support their future careers.

Dr Cathy McGouran, Director of Studies for Undergraduate Marketing, said:

We had such a fun and informative day at Iris. Students absolutely loved learning about how the agency operates - from Creative to Strategy and beyond - and how the different departments are interconnected. Finishing the day with a talk from Zainab, the Talent Acquisition Manager, Daisy, the People Partner, and a networking session was extremely beneficial. Thank you to everyone involved.

Marketing student Julia said:

Thank you to Iris for providing us with an insightful day at their beautiful, creative office in London. The talks across different departments really conveyed the energetic and warm work culture at Iris and gave us a fantastic opportunity to gain knowledge and network with individuals who share a passion for marketing.

Students Julia, Alexandria, Ellen, and Jacob also took part in a “takeover” of the @LivUniAlumni Instagram account, documenting their day and sharing highlights with the wider alumni community.

A huge thank you to graduate Ian Millner, the Iris team, and the students for their energy, professionalism, and curiosity throughout the visit.
