Brickworks, Tate Liverpool + RIBA North

The humble brick becomes the hero in Brickworks, a new display featuring works from the Tate collection at the gallery space at RIBA North, showcasing the transformative power of bricks in art.

Visit Campus This Summer – Join us for a student-led campus tour!
Are you visiting Liverpool over the summer? If so, we’d love to welcome you back to campus!
You can now register to join a campus tour, taking place on select dates in August. Tours are led by our friendly Student Ambassadors, who will share insights into university life today and guide you through recent developments on campus.
Each tour lasts around an hour and is family-friendly, so feel free to bring guests of all ages, however places are limited.

Science & Society: Weighing Molecules to Diagnose Disease, from Heel Prick to Skin Swab

Every year more than 30 million babies worldwide are screened for inborn metabolic disorders directly after birth with a heel prick assay that takes a tiny amount of blood to be analysed with a mass spectrometer. In the UK every baby born is screened in this way and the program has improved the health and life chances of many babies.
In this talk, Professor Perdita Barran will discuss using mass spectrometry to analyse intact biomolecules, their methodological approach for biomarker discovery, recent findings and perspective on how non-invasive sampling and mass spectrometry could play a major role for prevention and effective treatment of disease.
