Liverpool alumni recognised in King's Birthday Honours 2025

University of Liverpool graduates feature among those recognised in the 2025 New Year Honours List. Receiving national recognition for their outstanding contributions across a range of fields including technology, healthcare, education, housing, and heritage.

Among those honoured is Chief Executive Officer of the Raspberry Pi Foundation Philip Colligan CBE (LLB Hons 1997). Philip received a CBE for services to engineering and technology for societal impact. Under his leadership, the Foundation has become a leading force in widening access to computing education and affordable digital tools around the world.

Dr Christopher Goddard (MB,ChB 2004), Consultant in Anaesthetics and Intensive Care at Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, has been awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) in recognition of his service to the community in Merseyside. His commitment to frontline care and community wellbeing has had a lasting impact locally.

An MBE has been awarded to Julian Hetherington (BEng Engineering Science 1987), Automotive Transformation Director at the Advanced Propulsion Centre, for his services to business investment and growth. His work has played a key role in the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable automotive technologies.

Co-Founder of the National Leasehold Campaign Catherine Ann Williams (MRes Health Sciences 2010) has been honoured with an OBE for services to housing and to leaseholders. The campaign has been instrumental in raising awareness and pushing for reform in leasehold practices across the UK with 33,000 members and over the past eight years have helped support members in fighting against this feudal tenure.

  • Alexander Walker (MSc Strategic Communication 2020): Lately Conservative Group Leader, Milton Keynes City Council; MBE for political service
  • Richard Adrian Wiltshire (MA Archives & Record Management 2001):  Trustee, Business Archives Council, Member, Crisis Management Team for Business Archives and Archivist, London Gay Symphony Orchestra; MBE for services to Heritage
