Liverpool Biennial 2025

Liverpool Biennial is the UK’s largest free festival of contemporary visual art. The theme this time around is ‘BEDROCK’ which draws on Liverpool’s distinctive geography and the beliefs which underpin the city’s social foundations.

Join the School of Law and Social Justice for their Eleanor Rathbone Social Justice Public Lecture Series, a long-standing annual public lecture series hosted by the Department.

Dr Laura Naegler (Lecturer, Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology) will be joined by speaker Dr Laura McDonald (Co-Director, ConnectFutures) in a lecture that explores how boys and young men are specifically impacted, with economic and social contexts shaping young men’s vulnerabilities to, and justifications for, engagement with toxic online narratives around masculinity, alongside hustle culture, respect and violence.

One Heart: A Concert for Community

One Heart: a concert for CommUNITY will bring people together through the unifying power of music. Featuring powerful performances from the Asylum Link Choir and the Choir with No Name, supported by students from St Edward’s College and other Edmund Rice schools, this special concert celebrates solidarity, cultural diversity, and the resilient spirit of our communities.

The evening will be hosted by Frank Cottrell-Boyce, current Children’s Laureate and best-selling author.

On the Waterfront Festival

Talk | What does it take to work with artists in the Justice System?

Since 2019, the Learning team at FACT has collaborated with artists Melanie Crean, Katrina Palmer, Ain Bailey, and Amartey Golding on Resolution, a multi-year art and research project in prisons across Liverpool, Rochdale, and York. Incarcerated people and their families, prison staff, and key decision-makers were invited to take part in the project.
