Liverpool Biennial 2025

📍 Various locations, Liverpool
Liverpool Biennial is the UK’s largest free festival of contemporary visual art. The theme this time around is ‘BEDROCK’ which draws on Liverpool’s distinctive geography and the beliefs which underpin the city’s social foundations.
Collections in focus | The Pre-Raphaelites

📍 Walker Art Gallery, Liverpool
The Walker Art Gallery are offering a guided tour of their Pre-Raphaelite collection. Highlighted art includes work by John Everett Millais, Dante Gabriel Rossetti, William Holman Hunt, Ford Madox Brown and work produced by Morris & Co.

Join the School of Law and Social Justice for their Eleanor Rathbone Social Justice Public Lecture Series, a long-standing annual public lecture series hosted by the Department.
Dr Laura Naegler (Lecturer, Department of Sociology, Social Policy and Criminology) will be joined by speaker Dr Laura McDonald (Co-Director, ConnectFutures) in a lecture that explores how boys and young men are specifically impacted, with economic and social contexts shaping young men’s vulnerabilities to, and justifications for, engagement with toxic online narratives around masculinity, alongside hustle culture, respect and violence.

Join Professor Jo Patterson, Speech and Language Therapist at the Liverpool Head and Neck Centre, for an unfiltered reflection on a career that began in the most unlikely of places... a broom cupboard in Bognor Regis and evolved into a pioneering role at the forefront of speech and language therapy clinical academia.
Discover how persistence, serendipity, and support from the NIHR shaped a different path, and how this journey helped inform better services, better outcomes, and ultimately better experiences for head and neck cancer patients and their families.
One Heart: A Concert for Community

One Heart: a concert for CommUNITY will bring people together through the unifying power of music. Featuring powerful performances from the Asylum Link Choir and the Choir with No Name, supported by students from St Edward’s College and other Edmund Rice schools, this special concert celebrates solidarity, cultural diversity, and the resilient spirit of our communities.
The evening will be hosted by Frank Cottrell-Boyce, current Children’s Laureate and best-selling author.
All are welcome.
On the Waterfront Festival

On the Waterfront is returning to Liverpool’s Pier Head, kickstarting the summer for another series of stunning shows and live performances from artists including Sting and The Wombats.
The 4 day open-air festival forms part of a long weekend of entertainment for ‘On the Waterfront’, with Liverpool’s iconic Three Graces and the River Mersey as its stunning backdrop.

Talk | What does it take to work with artists in the Justice System?

Since 2019, the Learning team at FACT has collaborated with artists Melanie Crean, Katrina Palmer, Ain Bailey, and Amartey Golding on Resolution, a multi-year art and research project in prisons across Liverpool, Rochdale, and York. Incarcerated people and their families, prison staff, and key decision-makers were invited to take part in the project.
Lecture | From molecular mechanisms to public health: The role of nutrition and lifestyle in steatotic liver disease by Professor Bernadette Moor

Un/Earthed – A Retrospective by Landlines Studio

Digging into the land and lineage of historical sites for the past five years, collaborative artist duo, Angela Stringer and Nicky Perrin present their formative works in an exhibition which reveals the alchemical process of turning raw earth into vibrant expressions of story and place.
