Gallery: Highlights from our Recent Graduates Networking Event in Liverpool

On Thursday 22 May, we hosted our Recent Graduates Networking Evening in Liverpool, following our successful London event on 20 March. We welcomed a fantastic mix of alumni and students, offering a unique opportunity to bridge the gap between students preparing for the next steps and graduates already navigating the early stages of their careers.
We were delighted to have six of our inspiring recent graduate ambassadors, each bringing their unique experience and insights to lead themed networking circles.
Connect with our alumni ambassadors
- Tawhidur Pir (BA Hons Criminology 2021)
- Abhishek Mishra (MIM 2024)
- Obimobi Onyeukwu-Onyenso (BSc Hons Biomedical Sciences 2024)
- Lucy Charnock (BA Hons Business Economics with a Year in Industry 2023)
- Meghan Goodwin (BA Hons Business Management 2023)
- Dr Xiaoxiao Hou (PhD Music 2025)
Attendees joined networking circles, discussing topics such as first roles and professional identity, building confidence, personal branding, work–life balance, and navigating early career experiences.
Reflecting on the night, recent graduate ambassador Obimobi shared: "It was an incredible night filled with so many interesting people! I really enjoyed getting to share my experiences and talk about how I found my voice in different settings – whether in academia or in the corporate world. I am glad the attendees were able to take away some things from our discussions!"
Attendee Jieun Seo (MSc Business Analytics & Big Data student and International Student Ambassador) described the experience: "It was a great opportunity to connect and have conversations with alumni who are already working in the field. The atmosphere was incredibly positive and engaging, and I really appreciated the chance to speak with so many different people through the 15-minute rotation – it made the experience even more meaningful and insightful."
Attendee Hari Vignesh (MSc Business Analytics and Big Data 2021), Senior Data Analytics Consultant at AECOM, shared his thoughts: "I came to share my experience with the UK market and visa trajectories, it ended up being a 2-way street. I ended up getting lots of ideas and possible collaborations on business ventures – some of us met outside the space and are continuing to explore options."
Another attendee, Nandhini Balan (MSc Business Analytics & Big Data 2023), Data Engineer at Allianz, added: "I had a fantastic time, which was not only well-organised but also incredibly engaging. It was inspiring to reconnect with fellow alumni and meet current students, who asked thoughtful questions and showed great enthusiasm."
Our wonderful volunteer Riya Kumari (MIM 2024) helped make the evening run smoothly, while attendees enjoyed drinks and delicious sweet treats from Decent Donuts, an alumni-run business founded by Anthony Polanowski (BA Hons Business Management 2023).
The evening showcased the power of our alumni community – a space where stories and experiences were shared, and lasting connections were made. Xiaoxiao summed it up: "The event itself was beautifully organised … the room buzzed with laughter and heartfelt conversations, as we reminisced about our university days and looked forward to the future.”
