The University of Liverpool Management School (ULMS) Undergraduate Mentoring Programme, newly introduced for 2024-2025, was designed to connect current students with experienced alumni and industry professionals.

Through structured yet flexible mentorship, students gained practical advice on career planning, employability skills and industry insights, while mentors have the opportunity to refine their skills and make a meaningful impact on the next generation of professionals.

From looking at CVs and preparing for interviews to building confidence and expanding professional networks, the programme has delivered tangible results for participants. Both students and alumni have shared overwhelmingly positive feedback, emphasising the transformative nature of the mentoring experience.

Meet the mentors

The programme offers an opportunity for the University's alumni to stay connected while making a meaningful impact on students' futures. Many mentors joined the initiative with a desire to give back, recognising the role that guidance and networking played in their own careers.

Cosmin Gazii, Learning Advisor at bp said, “It gave me an understanding of the thinking behind my mentee's actions, allowing me to reflect on my own position in my industry and my approach to looking for opportunities. Every day is a school day, and the mentee can teach you a lot about yourself. I also got the opportunity to take a “coaching” rather than directive approach, which aligns with my own personal development goals.”
