Join LivUni Mentors to share your experience and shape their future

By connecting students with alumni, our LivUni Mentors scheme creates a supportive space for sharing experiences, offering encouragement, and gaining real-world perspectives.
In partnership with the Careers and Employability team, this is message-based, online mentorship, connecting students with Liverpool graduates through Handshake. It’s a flexible way for alumni to offer professional advice, wherever they are in the world and whatever stage of life or work they’re in.
Whether it’s helping someone refine a CV, understand industry language, or simply feel more confident about their next steps, your perspective could be the support a student needs to move forward.
Ellie Muscart (BA Hons Communication and Media Studies 2024), one of our newest mentors, shares: “Almost a year since my last assignment and nearly a year into my full-time Marketing role, I'm super excited to give back to fellow UoL students and grads by sharing my experiences and advice on early career development.”
Our mentor Aditi Gupta (MSc Occupational and Organisational Psychology 2022 and current PhD candidate) reminds students that it’s okay not to have it all figured out: “If you don’t have your graduation plans figured out, that’s totally okay – most people don’t. Job hunting can be tough, but every ‘no’ gets you closer to the right opportunity... stay curious, adaptable, and keep building your skills.”
Another mentor Sophie Kelly (BA Hons Criminology 2022) encourages mentees to stay open and proactive: “Don't be shy to step out of your comfort zone at work and start chatting with people! Building connections and staying curious will make asking questions and getting help feel less scary – making the shift from university to the professional world a little less daunting. The more you put yourself out there, the more confident you’ll become, and the more chances for growth you’ll find along the way!”
