Professor Tom Solomon announced as candidate for President of the Royal College of Physicians of London

The University’s Professor Tom Solomon CBE FRCP FMedSci is standing for president of the Royal College of Physicians of London, and fellows of the college should look out for the email coming from Civica on 17 March so that they can vote.

Tom, who trained in Oxford and spent time working in Asia, Africa and Latin America, came to Liverpool in 1998 as lecturer in neurology, infectious diseases, and tropical medicine. He became professor of neurology in 2007 and through his research was at the forefront of the UK response to Ebola, Zika , and COVID-19. He is currently the director of The Pandemic Institute in Liverpool. He has been on council at the Royal College of Physicians since 2019, and has been academic vice president since August 2024.
