In pictures: the University of Liverpool celebrates alumni and partnerships in the USA
The University of Liverpool recently visited the USA to celebrate Liverpool’s global community and connections.
As part of the visit, the University joined leaders from the Liverpool City Region to promote the city as a dynamic hub for investment, innovation, and education, and to advance impactful collaborations in fields ranging from heritage to health. The University and city representatives also hosted events to bring together our global alumni community.
Recognising the Historic Ties between Liverpool and New York
At the Museum of the City of New York, University Chancellor and alumna Judge Wendy Beetlestone joined Liverpool City Region Mayor Steve Rotheram and Laura Pye, Director of National Museums Liverpool, for an engaging talk entitled Transatlantic Journey.
Led by Dr Richard Benjamin, Co-Director of the University’s Centre for the Study of International Slavery, and Laura Pye, the discussion highlighted the longstanding cultural and historical connections between Liverpool and New York, as well as the shared mission to preserve and reflect on these ties.
Alumni from the area joined Director of Development and Alumni Relations, Suzie Thompson and Associate Director of Development, Michaela Riches for the event, followed by a networking reception reuniting our alumni community.
Fireside Chat with Coca-Cola Chairman and CEO James Quincey
Following the event in New York, Judge Beetlestone, Suzie and Michaela joined Chairman and CEO of The Coca-Cola Company James Quincey (BEng Hons Electronics, 1986) in Atlanta, Georgia for an engaging fireside chat. James shared insights from his career journey with Judge Beetlestone, from studying at the University to leading one of the world’s most recognisable companies.
Alumni in attendance enjoyed this unique opportunity to hear directly from a fellow graduate who has made a significant impact on the global stage.
