1. Introduction
1.1 These Terms and Conditions apply to nominations for the University of Liverpool Alumni Awards 2026 (“the Awards”). By submitting a nomination, nominators and nominees agree to abide by these Terms and Conditions.
1.2 The Awards are organised and administered by the Development and Alumni Relations Team (DART) at the University of Liverpool.
1.3 The University reserves the right to amend these Terms and Conditions, the judging process, or the Awards timetable. Any updates will be published on the official Awards webpage.
2. Eligibility
2.1 To be eligible, nominees must:
- Be a graduate of the University of Liverpool, including those who studied at the Liverpool campus, Leahurst, the London campus, XJTLU, Singapore, or via online programmes.
- Be nominated for one category only (the judging panel reserves the right to reassign nominations if more appropriate).
- Alumni who have previously won an award in any category are not eligible in subsequent years.
2.2 You may nominate more than one alumnus across different categories.
2.3 Both self-nominations and nominations of others are welcome.
2.4 The University’s Development and Alumni Relations Team (DART) reserves the right to make a final decision on any individual’s eligibility for the Awards.
2.5 The University is particularly keen to recognise the achievements of recent graduates (defined as alumni who completed their studies within the last ten years) across all award categories.
3. Award Categories
3.1 The 2026 Awards include five themed categories:
- Sustainability and Environment Award
- Sciences and Engineering Award
- Health and Well-Being Award
- Culture, Creativity and Sport Award
- Enterprise and Innovation Award
3.2 Each category celebrates alumni who have demonstrated excellence, innovation, and positive impact in their respective fields.
4. Nomination Process
4.1 Nominations must be submitted through the official online form available on the Awards webpage.
4.2 The form must include:
- The nominee’s details and graduation information.
- A detailed statement (maximum 300 words recommended) describing the nominee’s achievements, impact, and leadership.
- Supporting examples that clearly demonstrate why the nominee should receive an award.
4.3 Single-sentence nominations will not be considered. Nominators should provide as much detail as possible to help the judging panel assess impact and contribution.
4.4 Nominations close on Monday 15 December 2025 at 5pm (GMT). Late or incomplete nominations will not be accepted.
4.5 The University reserves the right to verify any information provided and may contact nominees or referees to confirm details.
4.6 The University is not responsible for entries lost due to technical errors, network issues, or incomplete submissions.
5. Judging and Selection
5.1 All eligible nominations will be reviewed by category-specific panels composed of University staff, alumni, and external experts.
5.2 The judging panels will assess nominations based on the following criteria:
- Demonstrated achievement and measurable impact
- Innovation, creativity, or leadership
- Alignment with the University’s values and strategic priorities
- Contribution to community, sector, or society.
5.3 The judging panels may decide not to present an award in any category if suitable candidates are not identified.
5.4 The Development and Alumni Relations Team will oversee the judging process. All decisions are final and binding, and no correspondence will be entered into.
6.Notification and Publicity
6.1 Award recipients will be notified by email, and unsuccessful nominees will also be informed by email.
6.2 Winners will be publicly announced in late 2026, prior to the awards ceremony. Winners may be invited to participate in associated promotional activities.in advance of the event.
6.3 By submitting a nomination, nominators and nominees consent to the University:
- Using their name, profile and images in University publications, digital channels, and promotional materials relating to the Awards
- Contacting them about participation in publicity, interviews or photography.
6.4 The University reserves the right to withdraw an award if new information emerges that could bring the Awards or the University into disrepute.
7. Data Protection and Privacy Notice
7.1 The University of Liverpool is the data controller for all personal information collected for the Alumni Awards.
7.2 Information collected will include, but is not limited to:
- Name, contact details, and graduation data.
- Professional and biographical information.
- Nomination statements, supporting materials, and media files.
7.3 Data will be used for the purpose of administering the Awards, verifying eligibility, judging nominations, and communicating with nominators and nominees.
7.4 Personal data may be shared internally with relevant University departments (e.g. Marketing, Communications, and DART) and with third parties directly involved in the Awards (e.g. judging panel members).
7.5 The University will retain nomination data only for as long as necessary for the administration, evaluation, and archiving of the Awards.
7.6 All data will be handled in compliance with the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, as well as the University’s Privacy Policy.
7.7 Individuals have the right to:
- Access their data.
- Request corrections or deletion.
- Withdraw consent for processing.
