Michael Skelly

Michael is combining success in business, a valued contribution to arts and creative industries and to the local community of Seaforth. As Co-Founder of Connect Studios, a dance studio, he is working within the local community to enhance the lives of local children through dance programmes and summer camps.

In 2019, Michael and his business partner Kelly, opened the doors of Connect Studios, in their home town of Seaforth. “Connect Studios is not just a dance studio” says the pair, “it is now a health & well-being centre at the heart of a community creating a space where children & adults feel safe to express themselves and pursue their dreams & aspirations.”

Connect Studios is reaching out into the local community in many different ways, like hosting a summer camp with over 150 children attending, saving families childcare costs and providing a valuable life experience, the opportunity to forge life-long friendships and learn new skills. These subsidised places were fully funded by Michael’s fund-raising efforts and for the first time ever, children were being offered scholarships in the local area from the Weekend Arts College.

Connect Studios is offering a social space and ISTD exams in ballet tap and modern, boys hip hop, singing and drama, musical theatre, adult yoga, mum and baby yoga massage classes, Twinkle Toes ballet from 18 months, adult salsa, samba, ‘Boxersise’ and fitness, meditation and nutrition guidance. They have recently created an exciting new class called ‘Yogatism’ designed for children with autism and special needs.
