From growing up on a sheep farm in Devon to working as a veterinary surgeon around the world, and now serving as a Member of Parliament, Danny will reflect on the journey that took him from lambing sheds to the House of Commons - and why veterinary thinking has never been more important beyond the consulting room.
Drawing on his work in Parliament, Danny will explore how the One Health approach is helping tackle some of the biggest scientific and political challenges of our time, from climate change and food security to antimicrobial resistance and preventing the next pandemic.
Whether you're a student, recent graduate or experienced member of the profession, this lecture will challenge and inspire you to think differently about the opportunities your veterinary training provides - and how you can use it to help change the world.
Danny Chambers is the Liberal Democrat MP for Winchester, and their spokesperson for Mental Health. Danny has served on the Council of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons, a trustee of Vetlife, and is an Honorary Senior Lecturer at Bristol Veterinary School.
While studying at Liverpool Veterinary School, Danny served as the President of LUVS.
This event is free to attend. If you're able, please consider making an optional donation. Your support will help fund life-changing scholarships and bursaries for Veterinary Science students through the Vet Student Fund.
