About the event
This event offers a unique opportunity to hear from distinguished alumna, Dame Amanda Blanc, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Aviva plc, a leading insurance firm.
Amanda, who stepped into her role as CEO in 2020, will share her remarkable journey from being a history student at Liverpool to holding several senior positions across the insurance industry. She will provide valuable insights into her experiences as a CEO, the lessons she has learned, and her vision for the future growth and direction of a multi-billion pound insurance company.
We look forward to hopefully meeting with you in London for an inspiring evening of knowledge sharing and networking with fellow alumni, academics and industry leaders.
About the speaker
Dame Amanda Blanc became Group CEO of Aviva plc in July 2020, having begun her career as a graduate at Commercial Union, one of Aviva’s predecessor companies. Throughout her career, Amanda has held several senior executive roles across the insurance industry before returning to Aviva as CEO. Under her leadership, Aviva has been greatly simplified, with eight non-core businesses divested, and its financial position and performance in the UK, Ireland, and Canada significantly strengthened.
Amanda was named one of the Financial Times’ 25 most influential women of 2022 and The Sunday Times’ businessperson of the year in January 2023. She was awarded a Damehood in the King’s New Year Honours in January 2024. Amanda also serves as a non-executive director of BP plc and has chaired the Association of British Insurers. In 2021, she was appointed by HM Treasury as the Women in Finance Charter Champion and co-chaired the UK Transition Taskforce, which developed a gold standard for private sector climate transition plans.
Amanda holds an MBA from the University of Leeds and proudly earned her BA (Hons) in History from the University of Liverpool.
