Tour De Vet School: Liverpool Alumni Come Together to Support Vetlife
Posted on: 17 December 2025 in Community
Liverpool graduates Oscar and Caitlin Sinfield cycled over 1,000 miles to every UK veterinary school, delivering wellbeing talks and raising over £7,000 for Vetlife.
Vetlife, the charity providing free and confidential emotional, health and financial support to everyone in the UK veterinary community, received an extraordinary show of solidarity from two Liverpool graduates through the Tour de Vet School challenge.
Liverpool alumnus Oscar Sinfield (BVSc 2022) set out to cycle to all 12 UK veterinary schools, aiming to raise vital funds for Vetlife, inspire students, and spark open, honest conversations about wellbeing in the profession. His mission was to connect with the next generation of veterinary professionals and highlight the support networks available to them.
Alongside him for the full journey was his wife Caitlin, an Anaesthesia Intern at the University of Liverpool. Together, the husband-and-wife team travelled 1,022 miles over 15 days, climbed more than 45,000 ft, and delivered 14 wellbeing talks at vet schools across Great Britain.
A journey of resilience, community and advocacy
During the challenge, Oscar and Caitlin:
- Welcomed 30 riders who joined them along the route
- Narrowly avoided Storm Amy
- Repaired two bikes
- Made one emergency physio stop
- And inspired hundreds of students, colleagues and friends nationwide
Their visit to Leahurst, where they hosted a talk in the Lecture Theatre, was a highlight for many in the Liverpool community. Oscar shared insights from the road, reflected on the pressures of veterinary work, and encouraged students to prioritise resilience, physical wellbeing and peer support.
The challenge has already raised more than £7,000, and Oscar and Caitlin continue to work towards their £10,000 fundraising goal. Those wishing to support their efforts can do so via their JustGiving page.
Their Tour de Vet School stands as a remarkable reminder of the power of community, shared experience and compassion within the veterinary profession.
