Eunjin Noh, Football Industries MBA Class of 2025 takes a break from her dissertation, to tell us about her lifelong ambition of working in the football industry and how she is realising her dreams.
Can you tell us about your experiences to date, working in the sports industry?
My first professional role was with the PyeongChang Organising Committee for the 2018 Olympic & Paralympic Winter Games. As a Rights Activation Manager, I collaborated with Olympic partners. This gave me valuable first-hand experience of an international sporting event.
Afterwards, I interned at the Slovenian professional football club NK Radomlje. Then I joined the K League’s Chungnam Asan FC as a Marketing Operations Manager, where I handled responsibilities such as content planning and production, social media management, and matchday operations. Following this, I worked at a sports marketing agency as a Social Media Manager for organisations including the Korean Sport & Olympic Committee, and later joined a sports and entertainment media company, where I was able to work closely not only with football but also with baseball and K-pop.
What led you to the Football Industries MBA?
When I was working at the media company, I initially enjoyed the stability of having weekends free, something I had not experienced at a football club. It was refreshing to rest when others rested, and it gave me more opportunities to meet friends. However, over time, I began to miss the atmosphere of the football stadium: the energy of matchdays, the players on the pitch, and the passion of the fans. That was when I made up my mind: "If I'm to return to a football club, I want to work in the Premier League, the best league in the world." While considering how to achieve this, I came across the Football Industries MBA, applied, and was fortunate enough to be accepted. In fact, when I received the offer email, I was in a stadium watching a K League match! At that moment, I felt it must be fate!
What have been your standout moments on the programme?
The FIMBA programme has exceeded my expectations in many ways. Firstly, I've been able to gain a wide range of knowledge through the diverse modules. Since I had no finance background, the opportunity to study football finance in depth was particularly valuable. As everyone knows, Kieran Maguire's module is always the best! Engaging, insightful, and highly enjoyable. Also, in David Cockayne's International Football Industry, we had to prepare presentations of 30-60 minutes every week. At first, this was extremely challenging, but over time I adapted, and it was fascinating to see my own improvement. This experience later proved invaluable in job interviews, where I was able to deliver confident and professional presentations.
Secondly, the field trips were among the most memorable experiences. In January, we travelled to Madrid with the general MBA, and in April, the FIMBA cohort visited Switzerland. Visiting LaLiga, FIFA, and UEFA headquarters, and listening to insights from industry professionals, was truly inspiring. Beyond the academic side, spending free time with my FIMBA friends created lasting memories, whether chatting and singing together during long drives in Switzerland, or meeting FIFA Masters students in Neuchâtel. During the Switzerland trip, I also had the opportunity to create Reels content for the official FIMBA Instagram account, which was such fun!
Most importantly, the greatest treasure I've gained from FIMBA is the people. Our class was small, which meant we could get to know each other deeply and build family-like relationships. Having friends with whom I can share joy and support each other through difficulties is something I value enormously.
The FIMBA alumni community is one of our most active networks. How have your interactions with alumni helped you?
I believe the FIMBA alumni network is one of the most valuable assets of the programme. Whenever I faced challenges, I was able to have open conversations with alumni and gain valuable advice. Their insights were especially helpful when preparing dissertation and job applications. In particular, during the recruitment process, many alumni kindly supported me even if we had never met in person, simply because I was part of FIMBA. Also, beyond being alumni, we have become friends, staying connected through social media and regularly exchanging messages.
This active and supportive network has given me great confidence, and it has inspired me to become the kind of alumnus who can provide the same support to future students.
And what’s next for you?
I'm now working at Tottenham Hotspur as a Korean Content Manager. In this role, I plan and manage content targeted towards the Korean market, and it is immensely rewarding to see my long-held dreams becoming reality step by step. Looking ahead, I hope to continue contributing meaningfully to the global football industry, drawing on the knowledge, experiences, and friendships gained from FIMBA. One day, I also dream of becoming the CEO of a K League club!
