Entrepreneurship graduate to aviation industry professional: Jasmin Brickman's story
Posted on: 5 June 2025 in Where are they now?

Jasmin Brickman, a University of Liverpool graduate, has carved out an impressive career in business development and project management within the aviation industry.
Jasmin Brickman's journey began at the University of Liverpool, where she studied an undergraduate degree in International Business and a postgraduate degree in Entrepreneurship. Reflecting on her time at the University she says: "The modules I studied were really varied. We went from marketing one day to accounting the next. I remember there was even a football module that I really enjoyed.
Over the four years at the University of Liverpool, I managed to pick up lots of different attributes and skills.
Jasmin's entry into business development in the aviation industry was somewhat serendipitous. She explains:
It was more about finding something I loved, that matched my personality and allowed me to grow both personally and professionally. My experiences at the University helped shape me into a leader. I now thrive off getting people to work towards a shared vision.
Her role involves managing global aviation projects with some turnovers exceeding one million annually. One of the most defining moments of her career was a project in Jordan: "Our engineers were out there and there was a lot of political instability. I was asked to make the call of whether they should stay or not. Everything was resolved in the end but that responsibility made me able to think about making decisions critically.”
Jasmin thrives in the industry, which is fast-paced and dynamic. Each day comes with new challenges and recent global events have had a big impact on the industry, such as COVID. Despite these challenges, Jasmin thrives in this environment, appreciating the adaptability required:
You will never be the most intelligent person in the room and that’s what’s great about it. I don't think I go a day at my job without learning something new.
Jasmin has been recognised for her leadership skills, being nominated for the 40 under 40 by industry leader Sally Browne (Executive Manging Director at SBA Limited) and selected for the highly competitive ISTAT PDP EMEA 2025 programme - a major milestone for any rising aviation professional. She attributes much of her success to the support of women in the industry:
Throughout my career, the highest points have always been when women championed me. It's so important, especially in a male-dominated industry and I always aim to pass that forward.
She also emphasizes the importance of mentorship: “I’m currently on the PropelHer Mentorship Program, and my mentor has been incredible. I ask countless questions and having a mentor who’s truly invested in your growth makes all the difference. “
To further support women in the industry, Jasmin created a WhatsApp group for women in aviation to connect and support each other whilst travelling for conferences and events: “I've had quite a few situations where I've been traveling alone and been in an unfamiliar situation, and quite frankly, felt a little bit unsafe. I set up an informal WhatsApp group chat where a lot of us are going to the same conference and so we can get on the same flight, travel to events together, meet up afterwards and network. There's now 120 of us in it. It's about helping each other feel comfortable and safe, especially when traveling alone."
Her advice for students and graduates looking to make their mark:
Be your own champion. Ask questions, find a mentor, and utilise everything the university has to offer.
She also highlights the importance of learning languages and adapting to different cultural contexts: "I use it to move away from sales and work and get into a conversation about who you are as a person. People wouldn't necessarily know by looking or speaking to me that I am Italian, and I’m fluent in three different languages. I think learning a language is one of the best things you can do. Not only does it build your confidence but it re-wires your neurons in the brain and enhances your neuroplasticity. You then open up a wider range of areas where you can communicate effectively. If you don't know where to start with how to conduct yourself, sit back and observe. You learn so much through observing, that and always handle yourself in a context which is culturally appropriate."
As she continues to navigate the aviation industry, Jasmin remains committed to her growth and the support of her peers, paving the way for future leaders in the field.
