Alumni News

In Conversation with Jon Snow

Friday 6 November 2009, Frontline Club, London

Channel 4 newsreader Jon Snow was guest speaker at an alumni event in London in November.  Jon, who was famously rusticated from the University following his part in the student occupation of Senate House in 1970, was interviewed by Danielle Grufferty (BA International Development 2008), current President of the Guild of Students in front of an audience of alumni and guests at the Frontline Journalism Club in Paddington.

Danielle quizzed Jon on all aspects of his time at Liverpool, his career, and his opinions on students and HE today before the audience had the opportunity to ask their own questions.  The Alumni Relations team had also dug out several old copies of the Guild Gazette and photographs from the time which provided a visual backdrop to the discussion.  Jon provided a fascinating and humorous insight into student life in the seventies, and despite once stating that he had a ‘semi-divorced’ relationship with the University, it was clear that he is very proud of his Liverpool connections.
