Professor June Kane A.M. (BA Hons French 1972; PhD 1977) is an internationally respected UN Independent Expert specialising in modern slavery. Based in Melbourne, Australia, she has held senior roles with the International Red Cross and the United Nations, authored 46 books and reports, and advised organisations around the world. June was awarded the Order of Australia in 2007 and the Albert Schweitzer Medal in 1992 and was recognised as a winner of the University of Liverpool Alumni Awards 2025. She continues to mentor professionals and emerging leaders globally.
