Wonders beyond everyday life experience

Thursday 5 October 2017, 6.30pm – 8pm

Quantum Physics

Alumni are invited to attend the next event in our Science in the Snug series, Wonders beyond everyday life experience with Professor Kurt Langfeld, Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences.

In the pursuit of the unimaginable, Quantum Physics has sparked truly remarkable advances in technology. NASA scientists have created the coldest extended region in the universe, 100 million times colder than the depths of space as well as producing a vacuum which is more perfect than that in outer space.

Professor Langfeld will take you on a journey into the Quantum World and beyond everyday life's imagination. Where one hour for one person is one year for another, and the strongest force for nanomachines arises from the "absence of nothing”. Recent discoveries such as the confirmation of the Higgs particle and the new terra incognita: dark matter and dark energy, will also be explored during the lecture.

The event will take place at Frederiks on Hope Street on Thursday 5 October and will begin at 6.30pm. Tickets are FREE but places are limited, please click on the link below to book your place.

Please note this event has now sold out.
