More than 30 alumni attended the annual luncheon of the University of Liverpool Taiwan alumni network at the National University of Tainan.
Alumni Ambassador for Taiwan, Sandy Chien (MA English Renaissance & Literature 2009), and President of the Alumni Association, Hsiu- Shuang Huang (PhD 1993), worked together to host the event with support from an organising team made up of graduates from the class of 2011.
The event began with a Welcome Address from Ms Huang, who is also President of the National University of Tainan, followed by a short speech by Sandy. Sandy discussed Executive Pro-Vice-Chancellor (Internationalisation) Professor Michael Hoey’s hosting of an alumni event recently, during which he shared the University’s vision for international alumni activities around the world.
Hannah Stelman, Senior International Officer for East and South-East Asia in the University’s Student Recruitment and Admissions Office, pre-recorded a message which was broadcast at the event.
The luncheon included a Liverpool-related quiz, a slideshow and the opportunity to meet fellow graduates and reminisce about Liverpool.
The Alumni Association committee has also expanded with the appointment of Professor Jia-Chang Wang (PhD 1998) as a second Vice-President and new alumni taking up the roles of secretary, treasurer and events officers.
